Liposculpting

I am Dr. Fernando Jose Nuñez Proulx, plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, today we’ll talk about the generals of liposculpting, this surgery consists of making tiny holes of about 1 cm in the areas where the patient wants to reduce sizes or fatty tissue. There are various technologies and types of liposculpting; the classic liposculpting is done with a canula of bio-aspiration, it yields great results, and there’s also the liposculpture assisted by ultrasound, where we have better attraction of the skin and we can access more fat to remove. The surgery lasts about 4-5 hours, depending on the areas to work on. Resting period is from 3 days to a week and you’ll be able to resume your normal routine bit by bit. Breast implants

The breast implants are ideal for women that wish to augment their bust size, there are different types of procedures, depending on where the implant we’ll be located, it can be located below the gland or below the muscle, this will be decided during the consultation, depending on what the patient is looking for and what benefits and contraindications this type or surgery has.

There are round or anatomical implants (shaped like a drop), the most commonly used are the round implants which can be either smooth or with texture, these days the texturized are very popular. Incisions are made around the nipple or below the mammary, this are the two most common sites to approach when placing the implants

There’s a great variety of sizes, projections, of heights, widths, all of this is considered depending on what the patient is looking for, her height, width of torso, and from then is decided what type and size of implant is the ideal one. The changes are immediate, the patient will notice the difference the moment she gets out of surgery.

The swelling period is approximately a month, and post operation cares are: analgesic, antibiotics and relative rest for about 1 week whilst the patient recovers from the swelling, she won’t be able to lift heavy things for a month or two and also won’t be able to do any type of chest or arm routines in the gym. After this resting period the patient can return to her normal routine.

I am Dr. Fernando Jose Nuñez Proulx, plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, today we’ll talk about the generals of blefaroplasty or eyelid surgery, this procedure is recommended for patients that have excess sin on the upper or lower eyelids, people that has lots of swelling in both eyelids or has tired vision caused by advanced age.

In this surgery we make two incisions around the upper or lower eyelid (depending on which one will be treated) where we remove the excess of skin and if necessary, the bags of fat under the eyelid.

Recovery from this surgery is about a week, when we’ll remove the stitches in the first 4 to 5 days. A little bruising can result that will last about 4 to 5 days and we’ll need to avoid sun exposure, the patient will need to use sunglasses during the following 2 weeks while the body heals.

The result will be a younger look, less tired and with improved vision.

Arm surgery

I am Dr. Fernando Jose Nuñez Proulx, plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, I can see that are various questions about the arm surgery procedure, know as brachioplasty.

The surgery is divided in two, when an arm has little excess of skin and very little fatty tissue, in this case the ideal procedure is a lipo aspiration, where an incision of 1 cm is made, either in the elbow or the armpit, afterwards a canula is inserted to suck all the area underneath the arm, with the help of ultrasound we can achieve better retraction of the skin and better results without too much bleeding or injury.

There are patients that cannot have the procedure due to advanced age, or excess of older skin, in this case we’ll need to perform surgery to remove the skin. A cut is made that can go from the elbow to mid-arm, up to the armpit, here we’re looking to remove all excess tissue, molding the arm. In this surgery a scar will be left that we’ll try to hide as best as possible in the inside or fate arm, after a while, the scar will start to fade until is barely noticeable.

Nose surgery

I am Dr. Fernando Jose Nuñez Proulx, plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, today we’ll talk about the general things to know about rhinoplasty or nose surgery, is a surgery recommended for patients that are not satisfied with the shape of their nose, whether is very prominent or too small, too big, or whatever the patient feels is outside of proportion in his or her face.

This surgery is mostly done with sedation, local, or general anesthesia. There are two types of surgery, the open surgery and closed surgery, the most common one is the closed surgery, where tiny incisions are made inside the nose, this way they end up hidden. Depending on what the patient requires done for the nose, we might need to make a fracture on the nose or file if the dorso is very abundant to make the nose smaller and lift the tip. There are various techniques that can be used to achieve the nose that the client wants. Recovery is usually 1 to 2 weeks after the surgery, if there’s bone fracture, the patient will need to use a nose support over the bandage during 10 days whilst the bones recover.

Swelling lasts anywhere from 2 weeks to a month, the final result will be achieved at the third month, the surgery lasts about 2 hours.
